Building Records and Facility Data
Facilities and Operations (F&O) creates and maintains authoritative data about the built environment—campus buildings, rooms/spaces, infrastructure networks, and the asset inventory for major equipment and systems. F&O also manages operational records such as work orders, preventive maintenance schedules, inspections, custodial/grounds activities, utilities and energy use, parking and transportation information and service requests that document day-to-day performance and lifecycle history. In addition, F&O steward project, finance, and compliance data for renovations and capital construction (e.g., scopes, schedules, costs, permits, and safety/environmental documentation) to support planning, reporting, and regulatory requirements.
Access to most facility records, including master floor plans, design and construction drawings and other project records are limited to internal F&O and U-M personnel. Record requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis and access must be approved by the source authority. Students requesting building records will require a faculty sponsor.
In general, building records are restricted to Facility and Operations staff and specific university facility staff based on their position and job requirements. File types may be restricted based on use and distribution. Floor plans are limited for facility management, security management, and faculty sponsored academic requests.
