The HR team supports F&O departments in the areas of human resources policy and strategy, employment services, performance management, and compensation planning.

  • Contribute to the development of strategic plans, goals, and directions of Facilities and Operations; conduct exit interviews and identify retention trends; disseminate pertinent university HR information to units
  • Personnel relations issues
  • Employee relations investigations and corrective actions*
  • Unit facilitation of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion activities for F&O
  • B&F HR projects – Organizational development initiative and projects impacting Business and Finance as defined by EVPCFO
  • Determine areas of employee improvement/opportunity through analysis, discussion, and partnering with unit directors
  • Provide oversight of the compensation program for Facilities and Operations units; review compensation change requests; develop F&O compensation philosophy with unit directors
  • Oversight of all phases of talent acquisition
  • Design and facilitate initiatives for organizational change and development; provide management consultation involving employee relations; performance management
  • Participate on ad hoc university/organizational development/HR committees and initiatives to represent F&O interests
  • Actively participate in union negotiations
  • Internal and external communications about HR organizational initiatives
  • Contract interpretation*
  • HR Policies & Procedures interpretation

University Human Resources Partnership

FOHR collaborates with University Human Resources.

  • Employee relations – conflict resolution sessions and investigations
  • Conduct grievance hearings, disciplinary review and special conferences
  • HR Policies and Procedures – provide advice and consultation regarding interpretation and application
  • Union negotiations, contract interpretation and administration
  • Policy and/or contract training and other organizational development services, including customized training programs and interventions
  • Represent U-M in outside agency cases, proceedings, and arbitration
  • Advise and collaborate with F&O Human Resources
